Free Guide to the Sanitas Residents Visa Plan

The Residents Visa Plan is the cover most digital nomad visa applicants end up looking at first. This guide explains what it gives you in Spain, how the Sanitas medical network works in practice, and how the visa version differs from the general one.

Who it’s for

For people who have worked out that they do need cover

This one starts a step further along than our main guide. It assumes you already know that private health insurance is the route you are taking, and that what you want now is a clear picture of the plan itself — what you can use, how you use it, and what you are actually buying.

If you have not got that far, start with the DNV health insurance guide instead. It works out whether you need private cover at all, which is the question worth answering first.

Sanitas calls this product Residents para visado. “Para visado” means “for visa purposes”, and the plan has a general version as well — the guide explains which is which and why the distinction matters.

What’s inside

What the guide covers

  • What the Residents Visa Plan is — private care through the Sanitas medical network in Spain, and what “through the network” means for how you book and attend.
  • Your everyday cover — GP and primary care, consultations, diagnostic tests and imaging, hospital treatment and surgery, emergencies, digital appointments and dental care, each described in the terms you will meet them.
  • How your cover works day to day — what happens inside the Sanitas network in Spain, and what applies when you are travelling.
  • Which version you need — the visa (Visado) version against the general Residents version, who each one is available to, and the age conditions that apply.
  • Residents or Platinum? — where the two plans separate, and the kind of person each one tends to suit.
  • Arranging the cover — what happens when you take the policy out, and how you use it once it is in place.
  • What to do next — how to get a quote for the actual people who need covering.

Sanitas is the insurer, part of Bupa. We arrange the cover as its agent.

The guide opens straight away on this page — nothing is emailed to you. Three fields, and a phone number only if you would like us to call.

Your details

We use your name and email address to provide the guide you asked for and to keep a record of the request. Your phone number is optional. Asking for a guide does not sign you up to marketing: we will not add you to a mailing list and we will not send you anything else unless you ask us to. Our privacy information explains who is responsible for your details, how long we keep them, and how to ask us to change or remove them.

Next step

A guide describes the plan. A quote prices your household.

What you pay depends on who is being covered, their ages and where in Spain you will live. If you would like that worked out for the actual people on your application rather than in the general case, tell us and we will do it.
