Free Guide to the DNV Health Insurance Mistakes to Avoid

Most of the insurance problems that hold up a digital nomad visa application are avoidable, and nearly all of them are made before anybody submits anything. This guide sets out the ones we see most often and the checks that prevent them.

Who it’s for

For anyone about to buy, or about to apply

The most expensive mistake in this subject costs money rather than time: buying a policy before establishing which route covers you for healthcare. Not every applicant’s route ends in private insurance, and a policy bought before that is settled can turn out to have been unnecessary.

The rest are quieter. A name that does not match a passport, dates that do not line up with an appointment, the wrong type of cover bought in good faith — each of them is cheap to prevent and slow to fix afterwards.

This guide is short by design. It is the one to read the week before you buy anything.

What’s inside

What the guide covers

  • The first mistake: buying before you check your route — how to establish whether private cover is the route that applies to you, before you pay for one.
  • Getting the wrong type of cover — the distinction that catches people out most often, and the simple way to avoid it.
  • Dates, names and timing that don’t line up — what has to agree with what, and when to start so nothing is left to the last week.
  • The checks we run with you — the right type of cover, the dates, passport-exact names, the medical questions, and the documentation.
  • The Sanitas cover, set up correctly — the two visa plans and what “set up correctly” means for each.
  • A quick check before you apply — a short list to run through while there is still time to change something.
  • What to do next — how to have the cover checked and put in place.

We arrange insurance. We are not immigration advisers, and the guide says so where it matters.

The guide opens straight away on this page — nothing is emailed to you. Three fields, and a phone number only if you would like us to call.

Your details

We use your name and email address to provide the guide you asked for and to keep a record of the request. Your phone number is optional. Asking for a guide does not sign you up to marketing: we will not add you to a mailing list and we will not send you anything else unless you ask us to. Our privacy information explains who is responsible for your details, how long we keep them, and how to ask us to change or remove them.

Next step

We would rather catch it now than after you have paid

If you tell us how you work, who is applying with you and roughly when you are applying, we will tell you which route covers you and what your cover has to do. That conversation costs nothing and it is the one that prevents the expensive mistake.
