Applying for the DNV as an employee

If somebody else employs you, what your application needs turns on a decision that is mostly theirs: what they do about Social Security while you work from Spain.

Employers of remote workers in Spain do one of three things, and each leads somewhere different.

  • They register with Spanish Social Security and enrol you.
  • They keep you in your home country's system, with a document to show for it.
  • They do neither, and private health insurance is what your application relies on.

Which one applies to you is your employer's answer to give, so asking them in writing is the first useful step.

One check before the rest. “Employee” is a status the evidence has to establish, not a word on your contract. If you are called a contractor, work through an employer of record, or invoice a company you own, start with how classification works rather than assuming these pages are yours.
